There’s always that “thing” that’s chasing us – usually it’s called “life”. It’s always going to be there. Trying to run away, running- and hiding into something, anything, doesn’t make it any less present. It may very well SEEM as though it’s being mitigated, but that is absolutely an illusory concept, that is plaguing most of the world’s population in this day and age.
Here is an interesting concept, that has been explained to me recently:
In the greater scheme of a fulfilling life, in the “duality of reality”, we are supposed to balance the flow of personality and creativity/creation at the same time, but often create a big rift by focusing overly on one over the other.
What does that essentially mean?
We’re becoming more and more accustomed to the idea, that “work” is a great basis of life, right? We can work harder, we can work smarter, but at the end of the day “doing work” usually means paying our bills, putting food on the table, offering shelter along with many tidbits to “treat” ourselves with, big or small.
We are creating our own reality, so to say. We create our own lives and parts of society as a whole. We establish a healthy take on reality and responsibility – to our selves and our environment (-actual nature, our pets, plants, housings count in this too, along with just other people around us, btw). But what is becoming more and more prevalent is the notion, that it SEEMS as if this is ALL there is out there for us…
…Is it really though?
Upon closer inspection and through the art of slowing down, stopping and smelling the roses it becomes evidently clear that there is (at least) another aspect to this scheme – personal value.
To simplify it on an example: when is the last time you asked yourself what ALL that you have/poses means to you? What does your home, car, job, health, relationship mean to you? What does your personality and general way of living mean to you? Are you satisfied with what you have and who you are? Please, take a moment and reflect on these questions.
…see? If you’re answering these questions, you’re adding personal value to all that you established with creativity. You’re combining creation/growth with meaning/value!
You know what some might call this?
Harmony, peace or balance. And do you know what this brings in the long run? Health, satisfaction, appreciation, joy and ultimately a fulfilling life. It’s right there! We don’t need to “keep on going and trucking and toiling away every day of our lives“… we just need to slow down, maybe even stop for a bit and allow our personal value, our meaning of things catch up so we can (hopefully) continue this balanced, happy lifestyle onward, step by step; with both: all that we create and our personality on a close-by level… one moment in time at a time. 🙂
Concluding: stop and smell the flowers every once in a while
So we’ve come full circle: the great “rat race” of life, that we keep pursuing, but often feel like “we’re losing”, is actually just the dissonance between our physical/created reality and our internal meaning/investment of our personal values.
Yes, you can very much work the hardest anyone’s ever worked and create a multi-million enterprise and have every materialistic thing you ever wanted or needed… but if you don’t allow yourself to feel joy, enjoyment, peace, appreciation and catch up with your personal values, well… my words would be: good luck with “trying to win the race”. 🙃
And just a little disclaimer here in the end: both, any and all ways of leading your life are ok and valid and I’m not saying any is better than the other or that you need to follow these guidelines. My intent with this writing is to caution people who might feel very stressed and might be close to or already “burning out” to take preventive care by merely just evaluating their active habits and their feelings together. Just this little act can already have a big impact in the welfare of anyone of us. My wish is for everyone to be as healthy and happy as possible. Thank you for reading and read you in another moment in time. ❤️
